Our Garden

Our garden is a place where guests can relax, take a stroll, and delight in the pleasure of sweet-smelling blossoms and delicious fresh fruit. When we bought this land in 1998, the forest was dominated by an invasive shrub known as scotch broom. Over the years, Irena has worked hard to transform it into a beautiful oasis for you to enjoy.
The garden now has between eighty and a hundred fruit trees, and a wide variety of berries. We grow apricots, peaches, apples, pears, kiwis, nectarines, figs, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, elderberries, and black, pink, and white currents.
Many of these fruits and berries make it into our breakfasts either fresh and ripe in season, or year round in Irena’s delicious syrups and jams. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
Our rose garden has been a labour of love, and we now have over two hundred rose varieties. Most are hybrid tea roses, and several are trophy-winning varieties including Elena, Party Time, and Double Delight.
Other highlights include a 2.5m Giant Himalayan Lily that blooms every year (a rarity in this climate), a two-metre-high Calla Lilly, an abundance of day lilies, and a wide variety of other flowers. A stroll around the gardens will reveal some interesting wooden sculptures made by a local artist.
Many guests say our free range eggs are a highlight of their stay with us. That is no surprise, since Irena takes such loving care of our chickens. They are truly free range, spending all day outside in the fresh air and laying some of the best eggs on the island for our guests to enjoy.
We also have a luxury hot tub for all our guests to enjoy on the premises.
